Sports team travel from Bangalore
A sports team is the one group where luggage is the binding constraint rather than seats. Fifteen cricketers travel with kit bags that are each the size of two suitcases, plus a bag of stumps and pads that will not go in an overhead rack. A basketball or football squad is lighter but wants the same seat count. What teams need from us is honest boot capacity, a driver willing to leave at four in the morning for a first-session start, and a vehicle that stays with the squad all day at the ground rather than dropping and disappearing.
What this trip actually involves
- Kit spaceCricket kit bags do not fit overhead racks. Count kit as luggage volume, not as bags — a 17 seater with fifteen cricket kits needs the roof carrier
- Roof carrierAvailable on Tempo Travellers and mini buses. Not on Urbanias, which use boot space instead
- Early departuresFirst-session starts mean 04:00 and 05:00 departures. Standard, and no surcharge unless it falls in the 23:00 to 06:00 night window
- Standby at the groundVehicle stays with the squad through the fixture, charged per calendar day plus bata. Nobody wants to call for a vehicle after a match
- Tournament blocksMulti-day tournaments booked as a block of calendar days with the same vehicle and driver throughout
- Wet kitNot a problem. Ask for the rubber floor mats to be fitted and the vehicle comes prepared for muddy boots
Cost per person
Round-trip fare divided by the vehicle's seat count. Fill fewer seats and each person pays proportionally more.

Itinerary options
Single fixture
Away match and return
Pre-dawn departure for a morning start. Vehicle on standby at the ground through the fixture, including the lunch interval. Return the same evening. One calendar day plus bata.
Tournament block
Three to five days at one venue
Vehicle and driver assigned for the tournament. Hotel to ground each morning, standby through play, return each evening. Charged per calendar day, and the driver learns the route and the ground gates.
Multi-venue tour
Fixtures in two or three cities
Common for college squads playing an inter-collegiate circuit. Charged per calendar day plus bata across the tour, with the kit staying in the vehicle rather than being loaded and unloaded at each stop.
Recommended vehicles
Tempo Traveller 17
The workhorse for temple groups and school excursions. Seventeen seats at the lowest per-head cost available anywhere in the fleet.
Urbania 17
Maximum seats without moving to a bus. Seventeen recliners for large corporate groups and wedding convoys that must stay together in one vehicle.
Mini Bus
For groups above seventeen, where splitting into two Tempo Travellers costs more and separates the party.
Questions we get asked
Will fifteen cricket kit bags fit in a 17 seater Tempo Traveller?
Not in the boot alone, and not in the overhead racks — kit bags are too large and too heavy for racks, and they shift on ghat roads. For a full cricket squad book the roof carrier as well. We would rather tell you now than have the squad standing at the gate repacking.
Can you do a 04:30 departure for a morning fixture?
Yes, routinely, and there is no surcharge for it unless the departure falls between 23:00 and 06:00, in which case the standard night charge applies. Tell us at booking so the driver is rested rather than being called at midnight.
Does the vehicle wait at the ground during the match?
Yes. Sports fixtures are quoted as a day booking plus bata, so the vehicle and driver stay with the squad through the fixture and the interval. It also means the kit stays locked in the vehicle rather than sitting on a boundary.
Urbania or Tempo Traveller for a squad?
Tempo Traveller, in almost every case. It takes a roof carrier and the Urbania does not, and for a team the kit constraint outweighs the recliners. The exception is a long tournament tour where the squad is spending many hours a day in the vehicle.
One last thing
Ask for the rubber floor mats when you book. Squads come back from a wet ground with muddy boots and studs, and a vehicle fitted with mats means nobody spends the return journey being careful. It costs nothing and it is the detail teams remember.
