Specification

Luggage, honestly

The 10-seater trades two seats for a genuinely large boot. Eight large trolleys fit without using the cabin.

What it is good for, and what it is not

Standing headroom throughout — the only vehicle here where an adult can walk down the aisle upright.

Cost per person on 20 routes from Bangalore

Round-trip fare for this vehicle, divided by its seat count. Use it to compare against the other vehicles at your group size rather than as a quote — your actual per-head cost depends on how many of the seats you are filling.

Our honest view

The ten-seater is the quiet recommendation on this site. It costs more per head than a twelve-seater Tempo Traveller and it seats two fewer people, so on a spreadsheet it looks like the wrong answer. What it actually buys is the largest boot in the range relative to its seat count, the lowest step of any vehicle we run, and a cabin an adult can stand up in. For a family of eight travelling for three days, that combination is hard to beat.
