Muhurtham day shuttle between hotel and venue
The muhurtham shuttle is the job where standby hours matter more than kilometres. A vehicle might cover thirty kilometres across a whole day and be indispensable for all fourteen hours of it. Because muhurtham times are fixed by the almanac and often fall before dawn, the shuttle usually starts at four in the morning and the driver's day runs past midnight. Two things decide whether it goes smoothly: whether the driver knows the venue portico, and whether everyone has agreed in advance how many round trips the vehicle is making.
What this trip actually involves
- Charging basisCharged per calendar day plus bata, not per kilometre. A shuttle day covering 30 km still runs a full day's charge because the vehicle and driver are committed
- Early muhurthamMuhurtham before 06:00 means the shuttle starts around 04:00, which crosses into night-charge hours
- Driver hoursA 04:00 to 00:00 day exceeds what one driver should work. For long function days we plan a driver changeover — say so at booking rather than on the day
- Venue accessConfirm portico width and height before booking a 17 seater Urbania or a mini bus. Several Bangalore kalyana mantapas have a portico that a Tempo Traveller clears and an Urbania does not
- Round tripsA 17 seater doing three round trips moves 51 guests. Agree the number of trips in advance; a fourth unplanned trip at 23:00 is where disputes start
- DecorationLight floral decoration on the vehicle is permitted. Adhesive, pins into upholstery and anything obscuring the windscreen are not
How this is priced
City-based bookings like this one are charged per calendar day plus driver allowance rather than per kilometre, because the vehicle is committed to you for the day whether it covers thirty kilometres or three hundred. Send us the schedule on WhatsApp and we will quote the day rate and the number of vehicles it actually needs.
Itinerary options
Typical muhurtham day
04:00 to midnight
04:00 first run, hotel to mantapa for the early rituals. Return run for the later-rising guests around 07:00. Vehicle on standby through the morning ceremonies. Midday return to hotel for guests who want to rest. Evening reception run at 18:00. Final drop after the reception, often past midnight.
Two-day function
Reception and muhurtham on separate days
Most Bangalore weddings split the reception and the muhurtham across two days at different venues. Book the vehicle for both days as one booking — the driver learns both venues and both porticos, which is worth more than the small saving from booking separately.
Recommended vehicles
Tempo Traveller 12
The best cost per person of anything on this site. If the group is eight or more and the budget matters more than recliner seats, this is the answer.
Tempo Traveller 17
The workhorse for temple groups and school excursions. Seventeen seats at the lowest per-head cost available anywhere in the fleet.
Urbania 13
The most-booked Urbania. Thirteen recliners, standing headroom and a real boot — the default choice for corporate offsites and wedding-party transport.
Mini Bus
For groups above seventeen, where splitting into two Tempo Travellers costs more and separates the party.
Questions we get asked
How is a shuttle day charged when we barely leave the venue?
Per calendar day plus driver bata, not per kilometre. The vehicle and driver are committed to you for the day whether that is 30 km or 300 km. We would rather say this plainly upfront than have it come as a surprise, because a shuttle day is where per-km thinking misleads most.
Will a 17 seater Urbania fit under our mantapa portico?
Sometimes not. Several Bangalore kalyana mantapas have porticos that clear a Tempo Traveller but not an Urbania. Send us the venue name before booking and we will check, or measure the clearance yourself — it is the single most common day-of problem.
Can the same driver work from 04:00 to midnight?
He should not, and we will plan a changeover for a day that long. Tell us the function timings at booking rather than on the day, so the second driver is scheduled rather than scrambled for.
Can we decorate the vehicle?
Light floral work, yes. No adhesive on the paint, no pins into the upholstery, and nothing obscuring the windscreen or the driver's mirrors. Tell us in advance and the vehicle arrives washed and early enough for the decorator.
One last thing
The most useful thing you can do for a shuttle day is write the trip schedule on one sheet with times, pickup points and a contact number, and hand it to the driver the night before. Drivers who have the schedule in advance solve problems themselves; drivers who get it in fragments over the day cannot.
