Wedding & Family Functions

Multi-vehicle convoys for Bangalore weddings

Above about thirty guests, one vehicle stops being the answer and convoy discipline becomes the thing that matters. A convoy that leaves together and arrives together is a good wedding; a convoy where the third vehicle takes a wrong exit and arrives forty minutes late is the story the family tells for years. The work is in the planning — a sensible vehicle mix, one lead driver, a single billing arrangement, and a decision about who travels in which vehicle made before people are standing in a car park with luggage.

Questions we get asked

How many vehicles do we need for 40 wedding guests?

Three, in practice. Two 17 seaters plus a 13 seater covers 47 seats, which gives you the slack you will need for luggage and for the guests who turn up unannounced. Sizing to exactly 40 seats always ends with somebody standing.

Will we get one bill or one per vehicle?

One booking, one invoice for the whole convoy, with GST. We do this specifically because splitting a convoy across separate bills creates reconciliation work for whoever is settling the wedding accounts.

How do you stop vehicles getting separated on the highway?

One nominated lead driver, all drivers on a group call for the trip, and a standing rule that the convoy regroups at every planned halt rather than trying to stay bumper to bumper. Convoys break when they try to hold formation in traffic.

Can we mix vehicle types in one convoy?

Yes, and usually you should. Elderly guests and the immediate family in an Urbania with recliners, younger guests and the luggage in a Tempo Traveller. It costs less than an all-Urbania convoy and nobody who minds notices.

One last thing

The single highest-value decision in a convoy booking is made before anyone gets in a vehicle: publish the vehicle allocation the night before, with names. Every minute spent on that is ten minutes saved in the car park at five in the morning.
